Tony
Scalercio a sixteen-year coaching veteran is a former professional
player with the San Diego Sockers of the MISL (1985-86). Scalercio
holds a USSF National “A” Coaching License; along with
a UEFA “A” Intermediate Coaching Diploma, from the SFA
in Scotland.
Scalercio served as a Region IV ODP regional staff coach for three
years. In addition, he served as a CYSA-S ODP State Team Head coach
for three years. In 2003 he guided the boys (87) state team to a
National Championship title. Scalercio served as the girls’
head coach at Valencia High School for seven years, where he led
the Vikings to the CIF Southern Section finals in 2003. He is currently
the boys head coach at Valencia High School, where he lead the Vikings
to there first ever playoff appearance.
Scalercio is a three time, Los Angeles Times Coach of the year,
1999, 2000, and 2003. Most recently, Scalercio was honored by receiving
the 2005 Cal South Nike Boys Coach of the Year Award.
Scalercio and his wife Nicole have three children and reside in
Valencia.
